Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

You sound confused, like the rest of us, and probably the people looking into this issue at Microsoft.

All I know is...the device doesn't work as advertised, and no one can figure out why. Not a good sign

More importantly, the device manufacturer isn't standing by the device or working with customers to try to find a stopgap solution that can hold until they can figure things out. Even good companies can make bad products, but a good company will do what it takes to make their customers whole.

I can report after a little bit over 36 hours of success after those STEPs, the problem has resurfaced and I've had to revert back to hibernation.

Good while it lasted but non the wiser on if its SW/HW. I'm tempted to think HW but surely if it was, then why would I have 1.5 days without incident (with heavy testing of both user and system initiated and different durations) and then all of a sudden, come back. Clearly the DISM did something to stable a situation that affected me on over 90% of sleeps, so I'm still of the mind that it's SW related.

    Same experience with me.

Until I swapped out my Lot 1550 with Lot 1604, I had zero success with all the suggested methods.

I've had my Lot 1604 SP4 i5/8/256 for more than a week now. I can definitively say that it was 100% hardware issue from my own experience.

My lot 1604 has NEVER failed to wake up from sleep. This is with the SFC reporting corruption OR not, it didn't matter.

My 1550 sometimes teased me with slightly different sleep behavior when trying out different suggestions, but it always went to the same place - continual crashing in sleep mode.

Go to your Microsoft Store, keep exchanging until you get a unit that works. Good luck.
