Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

My SP4 wakes up fine but I use the power button to put it to sleep and wake it up. It works using the keyboard sometimes but not always so I just use the power button. If I try the keyboard I have to press the key a few times.

Don't accept this, once your year warranty is out, it will be harder to replace this device even if it is a silent recall.

Anyway, I took the 3 hour round trip and went to the Microsoft Store. Told them everything I did, showed them my box and lot # 1541, and they didn't even make me prove it wouldn't sleep. I think they could tell I knew what I was talking about and my device was in mint condition. Got a NEW replacement, lot # 1613, and just got everything installed on it outside of my development tools. I had a lot less than that on the lot 1541 unit after a reinstall because I didn't trust that it was going to be fixed.

And so far, it slept perfectly several times so far, where before it would have failed without a doubt. I'll see if it holds up...also my USB on the new unit was set to Manage Power like it should.

I was also getting a lot of stuttering and locking at times using Google Chrome, I haven't noticed that yet with this new unit.

I will keep everyone up to date, ask any questions if you like. Again lot# 1613

This is what I'm going with. I'm losing around 2 or 3 percent battery per sleep hour with Wi-Fi on using the USB hub workaround. I could probably get it a little better if I fiddled with it a bit but I'm not going to bother. If I need better I'll just hibernate it. As it is now using the workaround I'm getting 12-13 hours (Surface Book) of heavy use and intermittent connected sleep before needing the plug, and that's plenty for me. If it's not going into as deep a sleep as it's supposed to with the workaround, I'm ok with that. What I'm not ok with is unreliability and I don't want to exchange it because I don't know if the problems will reemerge at some point again on the new machine, or worse, inherit a whole new set of problems. Not to mention the arduous task of setting up a new machine and any loss of productivity that it might entail. Right now, everything is working on my SB and I like it a lot when it works.

I got my advance replacement unit in the mail almost a week ago, so far it has been trouble free.
