So a friend and I both got the Surface Pro 4 (8gb, i7, 256) and it has been a decent device. Its great for CAD work (except that Solidworks hasn't figured out how properly display high resolution yet) until you close the type cover to, for example, walk
from one room to another to show what you just designed, and bam - the Surface's DISPLAY WON'T TURN BACK ON. The device itself is turned on and running, since the type cover lights up and the camera starts blinking for the facial recognition thingy. However,
its kinda hard to use a tablet when the screen is black and doesn't recognize touch, the track pad, or a mouse. I have left the device alone to let it wake up, just incase it was taking a long time to wake, but it just sat there with a black screen. The ONLY
WAY to get it to turn back on is to do a hard reset, which is absolutely ridiculous. What if I have an unsaved project on the go? It would be nice if, ya know, the device just turned on when you click the power button once, like every other tablet out there.
To clarify, this isn't happening due to large programs since I can have absolutely nothing running and still have this happen. The exact same thing happens to my friends Surface as well. The first time I ran into this problem was the very first time I
used this device, about 2 weeks ago. I have since had to do hard resets approximately 5-10 times a day to get this thing to turn on. Btw, it is 100% up to date, there are no viruses (I have Kaspersky), I get no error codes on this issue, and the only programs
I have downloaded are Solidworks and Microsoft Office.
Microsoft, PLEASE FIX THIS.
