Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

I've had the same issue reported on this thread. I bought my Surface Pro4 in Dec 2015 and have experienced this issue recurrently. If I'm working and leave it for few mins, it goes into hibernation. The screen goes black, but see the keyboard keys lit, pressing the power button will not do anything. I've had to reset it pressing and holding Powe button + Volume up for few seconds.

I've installed the most recent updates as recommended in the feedback, but that will not resolve the problem. I'm ready to return this to the store.

I have not made this change.  (Nor should I have to - this is supposed to just work.)  In fact, I have made (almost) no changes at all to my system in the hopes that perhaps MS could get the default config working.  (Only three changes:  system is set to never sleep when plugged in (saves my sanity by avoiding dozens of reboots a day and making my SP4 at least usable as a desktop PC), and both Connected WiFi boxes are unchecked in Settings/System/Power&Sleep/WiFi.)

Because it is a near-default power plan, my system is NOT set to Hibernate at all.  (It's my understanding that it should still do so anyway, when the battery runs low enough while sleeping.)

Despite all that, my SP4 wedged hard twice this morning - both times after it had been put to sleep with the power button and left sleeping for at least 15 minutes.  (Not sure when the system should *try* to transition from its inital sleep state to a deeper one, but that appears to be the time that things get fouled up.

Failure to wake after very short sleeps is gone, but failure is 50% or better for any non-trivial sleep on batteries - and I'm fairly certain it's actually worse after the last set of updates.

Just to provide a different viewpoint, I'm not having any issues with mine after these updates.

Again, for me, the first fix for the sleep issue, disabling the power saving feature on the USB port, resolved the issue and it's still resolved. None of the updates have caused other issues or changed the sleep issue.

If you haven't tried it, see if it resolves your issue.
