Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Post 2/17/16 firmware update I now have the problem. Once the screen powers off and I return to wake the screen up it will light the hello camera and the keyboard but it will not come back on. I have had to power it down via the power button. The service is not set to do any power saving while on AC except shut off the screen.

    Been using the hibernate option and haven't had any problems waking since Thanksgiving, except Hibernate doesn't always wake properly.  But now with the update, Plugged and docked, I tried SLEEP.  it was waking fine from sleep last evening, and I let it sleep all night.  This morning, it did wake up! Yeah! BUT, it was definitely warm and as soon as it woke, the fan came on for a couple minutes.  I don't believe it is really sleeping!  I am going back to hibernate because I don't like it being warm perpetually when I think it is sleeping.

    I do not have the sleep issue as I have only ever used hibernate on the SP4. But battery life is now a disaster compared to before the update. On mains Power fan hardly runs at all but when used on battery fan runs all the time and CPU usage fluctuates wildly, even with no applications running. Before Feb 17 update I could get between 5 and 6 hours battery life, now it can just get between 3 and 4 hours at best. Plus the battery life indicator, in terms of hours left, is now useless as it varies greatly in its predictions minute by minute. But battery drain is consistently high, probably due to excessive CPU usage, hence the fan running non-stop.

    Yep, I got the "black screen of death" first time I closed and open keyboard. Also when I closed keyboard the surface stayed warm for some time so I suspect did not actually sleep. Opening and closing keyboard several times finally showed the hello login screen.
