Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

I am trying to use Sleep now instead of Hibernate. So I set power plan to require password when waking, and power button puts it to sleep.  I put it to sleep, wait a few minutes, try to wake it up.  So far it does wake up, BUT it is not requiring a PIN.  Anyone else experience that?

I installed the update today.  The battery indicator shows what I think is a reasonable percentage amount left based on my usage but the hours and minutes remaining change every time I click to check. Sometimes it shows 5 hours or so left and next time 9 hours when I have not changed anything and only a few minutes have passed. So...that indicator may be messed up but the % indicator is ok.

Maybe everyone else knew this except me...A few pages ago someone posted a request that others post the results of their "reliability history" (I didn't know such a report existed in Windows 10, and I consider myself a fairly proficient Windows user.  To repeat what that post suggested, type "reliability" in Cortana search and the result at the top is the means to get to the report).  ANYWAY, and this is a bigger learning for me, on that report, if you click on any particular day, it will display additional information about errors and warnings that occurred on that day.  I just noticed that on mine (pasted below), the "informational" data itemized what Windows update did yesterday.  While some of it doesn't provide much detail ("system firmware"), it did list a number of individual driver and firmware updates with good detail.  See below (and also note, no red "failure" dots today!!)  Formerly I was not aware of a concise way to identify this.  If nothing else maybe some will find it interesting...optimistically maybe it will help those experiencing battery issues after this update to identify the source of the battery drain - e.g., wireless and Bluetooth were both updated.

Mine was about 70% failure rate when it went to sleep. With the new update hasn't crashed in about 20 wake from sleeps! Looking promising......... except the battery life which seems to be a lot worse! 50% battery is showing 58mins on the 2nd darkest screen setting......

Edit: After using groove music player for 30 mins, screen off in sleep 48% battery drain. So ****!

Do you think it is SLEEP that is using the battery?  I wonder if HIBERNATE is still the better option?  It is interesting that the firmware update did NOT change the display driver from Nov. 20.
