Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Mine was about 70% failure rate when it went to sleep. With the new update hasn't crashed in about 20 wake from sleeps! Looking promising......... except the battery life which seems to be a lot worse! 50% battery is showing 58mins on the 2nd darkest screen setting......

    Edit: After using groove music player for 30 mins, screen off in sleep 48% battery drain. So ****!

    This issue has been discussed extensively in other threads on this forum.  The solution for many has been to download and install the lastest display driver directly from intel.com .  Please do a seach for more info.

    I had the SP4 for about a month now. A few weeks ago I noticed that my SP4 wouldn't wake form sleep. It just didn't respond to me pressing the power button. Thankfully I noticed that the keyboard was lighting up, and then turned off after a few seconds. If I pressed the power button again, the keyboard would light up again, but the SP4 would still be unresponsive.

    The only way to bring the SP4 back on was to press and hold the power button for approximately 10+ seconds (i.e. a hard reset).

    I noticed that if I close the SP4 by pressing the power button first, and THEN closing the lid, I don't have any issues.

    Is there a solution for this?

    Wh00t! 10 out of 10 sleep/awake cycles closing cover then opening it and pressing key.  Slower but works

    Once when I opened before external display indicated was asleep my 2 external displays got swapped and device display was black.

    Now to see if it really sleeps and doesn't "cook in the bag"
