I closed my laptop one night and woke up with a crack from the left speaker down till the middle of the screen. Support says it is not covered through warranty.
Surface Book 3 Cracked Screen
My 3 month old Surface Book 3 has developed a small crack in the screen.
The crack is about 2cm long , at the top of the screen in the center above the webcam.
It is an upside down semi circle shape.
Microsoft Support have already told me it will not be covered under warranty.

2022-01-24T04:02:52+00:00 I have had the same problem. Cracked screen within 3 weeks of purchase. An obvious design defect w the product. After escalating with Microsoft they want nothing to do with it. They claim it’s physical damage so my fault.
Happy to join a lawsuit. Word of advice :
NEVER BUY MICROSOFT SURFACE BOOK 3 it has a design flaw resulting in cracked screen.
Microsoft Customer relations is terrible, it’s impossible to meet a human in person. All hiding behind a call centre in Philipines.
Faceless company.

2021-12-29T08:14:14+00:00 I have had no success with multiple attempts. Other problems are now stemming from the original crack and I am worried I’ll need to replace my entire computer after only a year of using it. $2500 down the drain.

2021-12-29T05:52:58+00:00 Less than 2 weeks after receiving the Surface Book 3 the screen has cracked, same issue with the crack emanating from the camera/microphone location, It is obvious to me that this is a design fault, the screen touches the keyboard element at an awkward angle, and if any slight pressure is applied to the device the screen goes under tension and is vulnerable to crack.
The Microsolft rep on the phone from Manila advised using a cloth between the screen and the keyboard element, and even a hard case for carrying!!! Crazy... How can Microsoft get away with such poor engineering and an obvious design flaw. It is evident there are many unhappy customers given the first choice on the complaint hotline is for "SURAFCE DEVICES".
Microsoft have refused to replace the screen saying it is "Physical Damage". I am pursuing the matter further with a lawyer.
LMK if anyone has been successful on the replacement at no charge.
