Surface pen no longer able to highlight the article

I use the surface pen to do personal reading as well as highlighting on the article. However, recently I suddenly cannot do the highlighting  anymore. Each time I tried to highlight, the pen dragged the screen to the next page. Is this the problem with the pen or the application software?

Hi Swee,

I think what you are seeing are some Pen interaction improvements that were made in the Fall Creators update.

**Scrolling with pen.**In the effort to create a more intuitive pen interaction on Windows, we are emphasizing natural and direct manipulation of content with pen. You don’t have to “hunt and peck” for scrollbars or frequently switch between pen and touch when navigating; now you can scroll content directly and fluently as you would with your finger.

**Selection with pen.**We also revised selection with pen by giving it more control over the selection process. Not only are we showing selection grippers whenever text is selected via pen, but also are allowing for a consistent and fast selection of content – text, objects, or ink—by dragging the pen while the barrel button is pressed.

For example, if you are in Edge or a Store app you can now select text by quickly double tapping a word and then dragging the selection grippers to adjust the words highlighted OR you can press and hold the pen's barrel button while you highlight the desired text.

Hope this helps,

Greg

As mentioned above I have the same problem as Swee. It seems like the issue has to to with the update that was applied recently. The pen works well with other programs and apps, just not the JW Library app. For some reason, it will now only let you highlight one word at a time. I have also noticed another issue. If my pen is not on the magnet side of my surface book when it is turned off or goes to sleep, it will not be recognized when I turn on my surface book again. Therefore I have to restart my surface book with the pen attached in order for it to recognized. I think I can forward the issue of the app to our app manager, but the stylus not being recognized is a different issue. Any suggestions on that?

I tried what was mentioned above but am still having the same issue. Also, I still have not heard anything about why my surface book does not recognize my pen like it use to. When my book is inactive, it will not recognize my pen upon resuming activity. I have tried looking at the settings, clicking the barrel button but none of these seem to have any effect. So, I then have to restart my book. The other issue is app specific, but this one is much more frustrating since it affects my regular use of my surface book. Any recommendations?
