My Surface Earbuds volume is unequal

Hello, I’ve had Surface Earbuds for almost a year now and i havent had any problems with them. But a couple days ago I noticed that the right earbud is a lot quieter than the left one and it’s driving me crazy. I’ve tried cleaning them, charging them back to 100%, forgetting the device and reconnecting them. I don’t know if I should buy a new pair or if there is something I can do to fix them.

    Hi JaseStafford,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.

Kindly try these steps below to troubleshoot the issue on your Surface Earbuds and see if the issue persist:

1: Check if the correct audio profile is selected

Click the Audio icon on your Taskbar (for Windows 10)

Make sure that Headset (Surface Earbuds Hands-Free) is selected

*For Android/IOS: since audio can be heard in the earbuds, the Surface Earbuds profile is already selected. Please proceed to step 2.

    2: Check Equalizer settings

Open your Surface Audio app. select Equalizer

Set the Choose a preset to Flat

3: Restart app or audio source

Close and re-open the application you are using

4: Turn the earbuds off and on

    5: Restart host device

Restart your Windows 10 or android device

6: Check if a firmware update is available

Please see Update Surface Earbuds page

    7: Reset Surface Earbuds

Please see Reset Surface Earbuds **** page

8: Try to pair to another device

Try pairing your earbuds to another host device and see if the issue persist

If the issue occurs on the other host device, the problem is likely a hardware issue

If the issue does not occur on the other host device, check the host device for updates

For hardware issue, you may contact support through this page: Contact Us or through our Global Customer Service phone numbers to check for replacement options available.

So I did everything you recommended for me to do, still the problem is there though. I must have dropped them sometime or got something in them. I will try to clean them one more time because I believe the problem is only in the right earbud and not a software problem.

    Thank you though.
