SurfaceBook Crashes/Shutdowns During Sleep

My SB (i5, 256gb, 8gb, GeforceGPU) keeps crashing/freezing during sleep which causes it to shut down. According to the windows reliability monitor it has been happening every day multiple time.

I though I was going crazy because I clearly remember not turning it off before putting it to sleep. I recently had my original SB replaced with a new one which fixed most of the issues from blue screens to flickering that would not go away. But this new one still has the Hello Camera issue where it wont turn on during startup and this new problem that has popped up.

Is this caused by a hardware defect? I really don't want to drive 23km to the other side of my city to get another replacement at a Microsoft store if the issues aren't resolved. Here's an image on the report. As you can see, there are 17 critical events today not to mention all the other days as well. Thanks.

If anyone has a solution that isn't a complete factory reset or system reinstall (I've tried them before) that would be great.

    I've had the same problem(s). Even after DSIM repairs and rebuilding the machine from scratch so to speak, same problems. I agree the Surface Book is not ready as is, it has far too many nagging issues. I've had issues with the following:

    1. Surface Book crashing while asleep.
    2. roughly 20-30% of the time crashing after reattching the Surface Book (Internal_Power_Failure).
    3. dll files corrupted with my Nvidia GPU  (yes, even after refreshing my machine).
    4. Both USB ports seeming to have power issues (2 mice, multiple external hard drives and my headset randomly shutting off or experiencing an issue as though the port is overloaded) on TWO seperate Surface Books. This could also be some kind of driver issue but I don't know forsure, it's been a complete mess. 
    5. I've even had Windows Store pop up with windows store error 0x80073cf9 before and after refreshing the machine lol.

    Should I return it my second Surface Book? Probably. Out of all the issues however, it still seems shocking that there are so many problems putting this machine to sleep successfully.

    I have hibernate completely disabled (as best I can tell), so my SB should only enter Sleep when I shut the clipboard or leave it idle or force it to Sleep though the Power menu. Early on when I was having the Sleep/Crash problem I suspected that it was happening when transitioning to Hibernate (2 hour default). Not now, I can say with confidence that Hibernate is not a factor with the Sleep issue on my SB. Unless the SB is ignoring the power settings. :)

    Every time the SB enters the sleep state (I am plugged and docked) I get the following messages in Event Viewer:

    • Kernel-Power: The System is entering connected standby, Reason: Power Button

    - DistributedCOM: The Application-Specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM server application with CLSID {D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160} and APPID {9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB702511C276} to the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

    • Kernel-Power: The system is exiting connected standby, Reason: User Input

    It happens consistently every time the SB enters Sleep, is there is way to fix it? thanks

    Mine has the same problem as #3, after hibernation I will try to detach and it will make a soft noise trying to detach but it will fail, it's a noise like the mechanism to detach is no longer working

    I had a crash during sleep last night, while not plugged in. (All new updates installed) 

    Also still overheats/does not sleep properly while plugged into my Dock. Looks like it's back to all hibernate settings for another 2 months...

    Same crashing and overheating while docked issues here as well (lid closed, connected to Dock w/ 2 external displays). When I lock my screen and walk away and then return awhile later, the SB will be in standby but the fans are screaming and the lid is really hot.
