SurfaceBook Crashes/Shutdowns During Sleep

My SB (i5, 256gb, 8gb, GeforceGPU) keeps crashing/freezing during sleep which causes it to shut down. According to the windows reliability monitor it has been happening every day multiple time.

I though I was going crazy because I clearly remember not turning it off before putting it to sleep. I recently had my original SB replaced with a new one which fixed most of the issues from blue screens to flickering that would not go away. But this new one still has the Hello Camera issue where it wont turn on during startup and this new problem that has popped up.

Is this caused by a hardware defect? I really don't want to drive 23km to the other side of my city to get another replacement at a Microsoft store if the issues aren't resolved. Here's an image on the report. As you can see, there are 17 critical events today not to mention all the other days as well. Thanks.

If anyone has a solution that isn't a complete factory reset or system reinstall (I've tried them before) that would be great.

    Three days now with the default Power settings and no crash from Sleep or Hibernate (yet). Fingers and now toes crossed. Not enough time has gone by yet to come to any confident conclusion. But so far it seems better.

    And I have now had my first crash since the update a week ago. Left my desk and my SB went to sleep (actually, not, just turned off the screen... set to sleep after four hours on power!). Would not come back. After waiting a minute or two, it rebooted itself. Nothing in the logs, of course.

    And about half of the time my connected monitors (via the Surface Dock) don't wake up. I have to disconnect and reconnect the dock to make them work.

    So still not reliable, but much better.

    I've had my i7/GPU SB connected standby turned off for months now (due to becoming really hot with fan on high) but have still been sleep crashing almost every night.

    I installed the updates, rebooted, and it crashed the first night.  I shut down and went into the UEFI shell (vol. up and power button) and exited.  I remember an issue with a previous firmware update messing things up until you went into UEFI so I thought I would give it a try.

    It's been two nights without a sleep crash - longest so far.  Don't know if I am brave enough to try and turn on WiFi while asleep.

    Still shutting down during sleep? Ugh.

    Well, I just had a different issue entirely. For the first time ever, my Surface Book "hotbagged" without a bag. I closed the lid of my SB (set to sleep and then hibernate after 2 hours) just before 7am this morning and left it on my dining room table, as always. At noon, when I went to open it, it was quite warm and of course, refused to wake or boot with a single power button press. After a long press of the power button (force shut down) and then a subsequent re-start (single power button press), it boots normally. And it has only 30% of the battery left. ARGH. Frying pan to the fire. I'd rather go back to the previous firmware that intermittently shut down when sleeping then find that within 5 hours, my SB can get hot and drain the entire battery while sitting closed on my dining room table.

    There is nothing in the windows system logs to indicate that anything was running during that time ... literally there are no logs between just prior to 7am and noon when I forced the shutdown/cold boot.

    *sigh*

    I confirm 6/20 update does not fix the problem for me. Back to USB Root Hub workaround.
