SurfaceBook Crashes/Shutdowns During Sleep

My SB (i5, 256gb, 8gb, GeforceGPU) keeps crashing/freezing during sleep which causes it to shut down. According to the windows reliability monitor it has been happening every day multiple time.

I though I was going crazy because I clearly remember not turning it off before putting it to sleep. I recently had my original SB replaced with a new one which fixed most of the issues from blue screens to flickering that would not go away. But this new one still has the Hello Camera issue where it wont turn on during startup and this new problem that has popped up.

Is this caused by a hardware defect? I really don't want to drive 23km to the other side of my city to get another replacement at a Microsoft store if the issues aren't resolved. Here's an image on the report. As you can see, there are 17 critical events today not to mention all the other days as well. Thanks.

If anyone has a solution that isn't a complete factory reset or system reinstall (I've tried them before) that would be great.

Guess what, another windows update and more corrupt files, big surprise...sense the sarcasm MS.

    DISM yields Error: 0x800f081f

Once again MS is breaking a machine that had zero file corruptions before the update.  How will the average joe ever get a working system if they aren't up to doing all of these steps to correct the issues created by MS.

I confirm that 4/19 updates did not fix the sleep issues for me.

I checked windows update history and Device Manager, all 4/19 updates were installed successfully, all devices are working fine, there is no exclamation marks in the Device Manager.

Sleep crashes happened twice today. Both time I had to press and hold power button to force it off before reboot it again.

I wonder if you guys experience the same thing.

Sleep crash issue still exists -- I can confirm it already. I put my SB to sleep last night after installing the 4/19 round of updates -- this morning, it was off and required a full boot. I will be testing the Hello camera issue later today after my SB has gone into hibernation.

Reading through the April update notes it looks like many issues were addressed, but I don't see anything specifically for the Sleep Crash issue with the possible exception of the Intel 520 driver update "... and cases where the display does not reinitialize correctly after the device resumes from sleep or hibernation." I have successfully installed the April 19 updates and will see if my SB can sleep though the night without a crash (it never has before).

Below are the update notes from MS:

Surface System Aggregator Firmware update (v88.1134.257.0) addresses a case where after you resume the Surface   Book device from hibernation and detach the clipboard, the auto-rotate feature does not work.

Surface UEFI update (v88.1121.768.0) addresses screen flickering in Microsoft Edge and other applications.

Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 driver update (v20.19.15.4409) improves the overall stability of the graphics driver, resolves screen flickering in several popular applications, and cases where the display does not reinitialize correctly after the device resumes from sleep or hibernation.

Intel(R) Display Audio driver update (v8.20.0.865) supports compatibility with the updated HD Graphics Family driver.

NVIDIA GeForce GPU driver update (v10.18.13.6200) adds support for some of the latest popular games.

Surface Camera drivers set (v30.10586.7035.1976) improves Windows Hello stability.

    ·           Intel(R) AVStream Camera 2500 driver update (v30.10586.7035.1976)

    ·           Intel(R) Control Logic driver update (v30.10586.7035.1976)

    ·           Intel(R) CSI2 Host Controller driver update (v30.10586.7035.1976)

    ·           Intel(R) Imaging Signal Processor 2500 driver update (v30.10586.7035.1976)

    ·           Microsoft Camera Front driver update (v30.10586.7035.1976)

    ·           Microsoft Camera Rear driver update (v30.10586.7035.1976)

    ·           Microsoft IR Camera Front driver update (v30.10586.7035.1976)

Surface Camera Windows Hello driver update (v1.0.45.0) improves Windows Hello stability.

Surface Dock Integration driver update (v1.0.6.0) improves stability and compatibility with external monitors and passive video adapters.

Surface Dock Firmware Update (v1.2.6.0) improves stability and compatibility with external monitors and passive video adapters.
