Something is not right with your system. I have a Surface Book i7/16GB/512GB and have not had a single problem with Sleep/Hibernation since the update that fixed the problem last June. I would recommend that you visit a Microsoft Store and have one of their techs look at your Surface Book.
SurfaceBook Crashes/Shutdowns During Sleep
My SB (i5, 256gb, 8gb, GeforceGPU) keeps crashing/freezing during sleep which causes it to shut down. According to the windows reliability monitor it has been happening every day multiple time.
I though I was going crazy because I clearly remember not turning it off before putting it to sleep. I recently had my original SB replaced with a new one which fixed most of the issues from blue screens to flickering that would not go away. But this new one still has the Hello Camera issue where it wont turn on during startup and this new problem that has popped up.
Is this caused by a hardware defect? I really don't want to drive 23km to the other side of my city to get another replacement at a Microsoft store if the issues aren't resolved. Here's an image on the report. As you can see, there are 17 critical events today not to mention all the other days as well. Thanks.
If anyone has a solution that isn't a complete factory reset or system reinstall (I've tried them before) that would be great.

2017-01-10T00:26:48+00:00 I also experience this problem almost daily. I typically close the lid after work and next time I open my surface book I find that it has shutdown, even though it is set to sleep. I've been slow to report it. It finally got so frustrating after opening office products and constantly being notified that there are 'unsaved' recoverable documents. Microsoft please please send a fix for this. I so badly just want to quickly resume work where I left off.
Does anyone know if the new Dell XPS 13 2in1 or HP 360x has this issue?

2016-07-22T21:14:39+00:00 As of yesterday I went back to sleep instead of hibernate and I'm still losing about 1% per hour (11% in 10.5 hours) in sleep mode on battery. I even had a few crashes when I had disabled sleep and was just using hibernate.

2016-07-22T19:04:43+00:00 Things are simply getting worse. Again, I have all of the updates and things were promising but now getting worse.
- Hangs/reboots after being in sleep (confirmed with event viewer)
- Ignores my settings for sleep/power management (I set it to never sleep when plugged in; ignored. I tried two hours when plugged in; ignored. I have 30 minutes when on battery; ignored)
- Ignores screen saver settings (I set it to never use one and it still insists on doing so).
This is still 100% ridiculous. All on a new Surface Book with all patches.
The June updates do not fix the problems for everyone. I'm glad some of you are better off, but comments stating "it works for me" don't help with the topic, here. It does not work for everyone and nobody at Microsoft cared to get my dumps or work with me (others) to understand this.
I suggest avoiding the Surface products until threads like this one are at least six months old with no updates.

2016-07-09T08:15:04+00:00 The crashing problem has been solved for me with the June updates, however just like you I also have hot bag problems again... I just hope that the anniversary update (and maybe some driver/firmware update along with it) will sort all these problems for everyone.
