My SB (i5, 256gb, 8gb, GeforceGPU) keeps crashing/freezing during sleep which causes it to shut down. According to the windows reliability monitor it has been happening every day multiple time.
I though I was going crazy because I clearly remember not turning it off before putting it to sleep. I recently had my original SB replaced with a new one which fixed most of the issues from blue screens to flickering that would not go away. But this new one still has the Hello Camera issue where it wont turn on during startup and this new problem that has popped up.
Is this caused by a hardware defect? I really don't want to drive 23km to the other side of my city to get another replacement at a Microsoft store if the issues aren't resolved. Here's an image on the report. As you can see, there are 17 critical events today not to mention all the other days as well. Thanks.
If anyone has a solution that isn't a complete factory reset or system reinstall (I've tried them before) that would be great.

It seems like Microsoft doesn't test their new drivers in house and instead they have us download, test, and report back bugs. Basically they are using us as free beta testers. That would be fine if they were giving the Surface Book away, but at the price point of these devices, that is unacceptable.
I ordered a new computer and am returning the Surface Book when it arrives. It saddens me because the Surface Book is such a great idea, but the software/drivers are horrible. Pretty impressive for a software company. The worst part is that Microsoft will not release any type of statement about the issues which suggests there will never be a perfect fix for this generation device.
Ok so the may 9th drivers have managed to make my surface book MUCH more unstable. It used to only crash at night when plugged in, NOW it crashes every time I put it in my bag for over 20 minutes. It was usable before and now not so much. I have all my programs open and I leave it for 20 minutes, and it crashes. This is just stupid at this point.
My temporary and less-than-perfect workaround is to set my SB to sleep after 15 minutes of lid close, then hibernate. This way, if I'm going from my office to a meeting or just quickly moving locations, it wakes up quickly and properly from sleep. Only once has it crashed in this first 15 minutes. However, once it didn't actually go to "sleep", so it then never hibernated, and I got a hot bag. I never sleep it while plugged in overnight - always hibernate. This method uses a bit more battery but is fine for me day-to-day. It's a decent compromise and worth a try for the time being.
Thank you for your message zerospace195. I didn't mean to insinuate that it was solely a Microsoft problem. You make a good point, it could well be related to the Intel Skylake chipset or some other third party driver/hardware issue which Microsoft has no direct control over and has to depend on the OEM to resolve. It would be helpful if Microsoft came forward with guidance on the Sleep issue. Perhaps there are NDAs involved preventing them from doing so.
