Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Crackling Sound

I've had my MS Pro 4 for a few days now. Updates are installed and it's working fine. I hear a crackling or arcing sound every once in a while. It even happens when in sleep mode. Should I be concerned or is there an explanation for this?

    I tried all these settings, closed the lid, and 20 secs later the noise re-occured.  Got to admit I was very hopeful.

    I've found a solution for this that worked for me

    The bug is in Cortana, so you need to switch it off

    Go to "Cortana & Search Settings"

    Turn off all three settings:

    1. "Let Cortana respond to Hey Cortana" to "Off"
    2. "Let Cortana listen for my commands when I press the Windows Logo Key" to "Off"
    3. "Use Cortana even when my device is locked" to "Off"

    Then restart the PC

    I think that you need all the Cortana settings off, because turning off just some didn't make a difference

    Have you tried the chat with MS? I am not aware which model you have and how old it is. However, the last update definitely solved the issue on my surface book, the crackling sound never reappeard since then. I cross fingers it is ao easy to solve on your machine too.

    No, it's a problem with the Operating System and that we are forced to allow to update with this bug. There is nothing that you can do about it but buy new hardware. It's almost like they intentionally allow the bug to persist so that people think that their hardware has gone bad and will purchase a new product.

    Kind of funny that they would think we'd buy a Microsoft product again o.O

    For me the last update the ms support suggested to me via remote access solved the problem. I am on a surface book.  

    My Windows is up to date, so unless there is an update that does not get installed by the Windows Update then updates do not solve the problem for me.

    @Microsoft Support: Could you please post a link here to the update that is supposed to solve the problem?
