Hey there,
i'm having this weird issue with my Surface pro 7 that it's Screen seemingly randomly turns black.
Specifically:
When i'm at the lowest Brightness(0) and i playback a video on mpc-hc the screen of the surface just turns black.
The playback is still running i can still hear the sound from the video, just visually i see a black screen.
I can fix it by pressing the power button once and locking it. Then unlock it again and the black screen is gone.
This issue only happens when my brightness is at 0.

Me too! I had the Surface Pro 3 for years and had zero problems. I've "upgraded" 9 months ago and have nothing but problems! This screens going black while I'm working on Word is extremely frustrating and slowing my word down drastically since I have to keep rebooting my computer. Did you find a fix!
After testing my Surface pro 7 I can only say that solution works. Many, many thanks for such creative solution :)
