Surface Pro 9 Screen Flickers/Scramble

Hello,

I am facing a very weird issue with my Surface Pro 9 Screen. I have been getting tiny flickering / screen scramble, extremely randomly, maybe once in 5-6 hours. I have tried contacting the support but I do not think I have been given any proper solution and it's annoying. Rather, I have been asked to do the impossible task of getting a video recording of this phenomena. I can't be staying without a device especially considering my workload as a graduate student and I have been consistently dealing with unreliability. And I also can not be dealing with this non sense of wasting my whole day recording the screen for a random lucky chance of observing the flicker.

Anyway, the issue is that I am worried about the long term health of my screen. As of now, there is no inconvenience caused by these flickers because they happen for about < 1s and once in 5-6 hours on average. But I am extremely worried about the long run. I don't want to be wasting my time sending this device for repairs for issues that should not have arise in the first place. Is there any reliable fix for this situation?

I have tried disabling or changing graphic settings and I have tried all the default steps of updating/reinstalling drivers. I have also kept my surface pro to default setting as much as possible without any modification.

I'd also like to know if it's just possible to get this device replaced? I am still under 1 month period from the date of arrival of this product. Although, I am unable to see any return option which is also distressing me.

Overall, I am extremely worried about how it will pan out in the long run. I absolutely do not want to be wasting my time over this. Please help.

    hello i would like to update my fellow community member on the persistant issue.

    now when i disable the optioned as highlighted above, it did resolve the issue. however, the issue disappeared from opera GX and Chrome.

    as for microsoft edge i still face some flickering but different pattern.

    i'm not really sure how to explain, i've already posted a video in previous comment. i will post a new video for your reference.

    please let me know for edge users if it happens to you, and could you tell me which browser you use?

    i stopped using chrome because the page scrolling is very slow in chrome compared to other browsers i don't know why.

    Yea just deactivate the Setting like its shown in the last post, worked for me

    My surface pro 9 also has a glitch similar to this that appears every now and then on the right side of my screen. It's less than a month old. Started flickering from day one.

    I'm just happy to know its not an isolated issue.

    Is there a solution? I'm all the way in Uganda but bought this from Canada

    I think I found the reason why it flickers

    Windows 10, it works.

    in the intel graphics control center option option Panel Self Refresh disable/ It works for me no flickering for a week.Image

    Hi,

    I notice same issue with my Surface PRO 9, but screen was flickering only on battery power. When I put surface on power supply flickering gone.

    After updating drivers and reading this thread disabling self-refresh display seems to be ok now also on battery power. So probably MS needs to talk with Intel here to properly make drivers for this device.

    I very recently bought a SP9/i7/16gb and have been having the same problem. It's like the has interference, colours get messed up and it all ghosts across the screen. Quite concerned about this, and hoping it isn't a sign of bigger problems to come.....

    Has there been any word on whether this is just a software issue that can be fixed, or are we looking at a hardware fault?
