Surface Earbuds broke in a matter of weeks

I really enjoyed my Surface earbuds for work and play together, until they broke, less than 40 days after using them.

They were never involved in any active work, never mishandled, dropped, or neglected.  But suddenly, the right earpiece became fractured just behind the ear mold.  The crack was so severe, the earbud stopped working, with no apparent way to repair or reattach the device.

Since damage is not covered by the limited warranty, I'm out some $230 after less than six weeks of use.  My old Surface Headphones had endured a lot more wear and tear while used far more actively and lasted years.

This is the most disappointing outcome I've had with a Microsoft/Surface device as a loyal user of many of the products.  I am severely disappointed and will not be purchasing a replacement for fear of, again, wasting hundreds of dollars with no protection.

    Hello Nick Weig,

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community and posting your concern here. We're sorry to learn about the damage on your earbuds.

Technically, Microsoft will give an exemption if the damage is proven not customer-induced. We suggest to contact Microsoft Surface Support to seek options for your earbuds or possible replacement. If you're located outside United States, see Global Support.

    Hope this helps.
