So far as i can tell, the logo on my Surface kickstand (only logo I have) is the same as on Day 1 when i got it in October. But as I may have commented earlier, i think it is not a very good logo in the sense that it is gray on gray and only visible in
good lighting and at certain angles.
i think Microsoft may have been a bit too subtle in their approach to markings. Two other examples i have noticed on the Surface:
- The text on the power block (charger) is very faint and difficult to read (also too small to read without a magnifying glass).
- The serial number and other manufacturer's markings on the Type Cover are virtually impossible to see unless someone tells you where it is, and are very faint. The ink or paint looks as if it is about 10-20% gray or white. Between how poor the marking
is and where it is located, I suspect the markings will be gone before a year is up.
These faint markings are partly a "style" issue, i think, and are somewhat similar to a lot of other consumer electronic equipment where the manufacturers seem to want to make the markings very subtle, very hard to read, very faint in color. Perhaps they
feel that this type of marking detracts from the overall appearance, not sure. Or maybe they just want to make it hard to find serial numbers and other legal markings or want them to disappear over time -- just guessing.
In any case, no one is ever going to immediately know you are using a Microsoft product if you have your Surface out in public, at least not from the (very faint) logo...
