My recommendation to anyone experiencing this issue is to set up an exchange. This is a known issue that Microsoft is investigating.
If you purchased your Surface from a brick-and-mortar Microsoft Store, take your Surface to the store and ask for an exchange because the Windows Logo is deteriorating.
If you purchased your Surface from the online Microsoft Store, you can set up an exchange in one of two ways:
Set up the exchange yourself using myservice.surface.com and select
Problem with a Device. Follow the steps from this point and you can manually create a
Service Order and have your Surface exchanged for a replacement covered under your Warranty.
Contact Surface Support at Surface.com by selecting the Support tab and looking for either the option to Chat or
Schedule a Callback. Chat will connect you with a representative that you may speak with through a messenger-style window once you reach the top of the queue and the Callback option will place you in the phone queue and, upon reaching the top,
the queue will call you so you can be connected with an Agent.
In both cases you will want to have your Surface registered to your Microsoft Account as this will be a requirement in order to set up the exchange.
