I have a global unlocked Duo. I can insert physical SIM and install an eSIM but can not use them as DSDS or true DS. And there is no option to use DSDS whereas there is on the Duo2. The Duo does not offer any form of dual sim (although you can have two sim's on your device....;-) )
Surface Duo DUal SIm question
Hi,
I own a Surface Duo and was wondering about its Dual Sim capacity. In my case I need to manually switch (via settings) between the SIM's (one eSim, the other being a physical Sim in the tray). The Sim not selected is not active at all. So calls to that Sim will not arrive.
My Pixel accepts an eSim and a Sim card as well but in that case both are active in a Dual Sim Standby mode. I can get calls on both Sim's but when I make a call with one, the other one it not for the time I am using the first SIm. The Duo, in my case, does not offer this Standby mode as far as I can see.
Can anyone help me out ? Is there a way the Duo can have Dual Sim standby mode ? Are there Duo devices with that option ? And maybe.....will Android 11 bring us that option as I know the Duo 2 does offer it ?
Thx !
Mark

2022-04-05T14:56:47+00:00 Hi,
Can you try following and see if it allows you enable Dual Sim Dual Standby (DSDS)?
Go to your phone dialer and type *#*#4636#*#* you will see a menu with three options click "Phone Information" click it and skim the page until you see Enable DSDS and check if the toggle switch is not greyed out and you can switch it on?
I'm planning to buy Surface duo so it would be helpful to know, if DSDS is available or not? DSDS was available from Android 10.
Mindseye73, I just checked on my Surface Duo 2 and the Enable DSDS toggle is available -- it is not greyed.

2022-04-05T15:32:27+00:00 Hi,
On my Surface Duo this option is not available at all whereas on my Duo 2 (which I bought in the meantime) there is a DSDS option with a switch and it is not greyed out.
So the Duo does not have the Dual sim option.
