Battery drain with Unregistered device SE?

Hi all, 

Lately I've been noticing a large battery drain (at least by my standards) of ~1-2% per hour during connected standby. Based on what's advertised (7-10 days idle) I'm getting ~4 days at best? I ran the sleep study, battery report and energy report and came up with interesting results. I've also calibrated the battery and have no current pending updates. Any ideas as to why the large battery drain during standby? 

Also sorry in advance for the long post. I'm not sure how to post the full reports on this forum.

    Thanks great to hear! I haven't sent in my surface for a replacement yet so I'll try doing a refresh and see what happens. Thanks for the tip!

    HI Takoman,

    I'm sorry for your experience on Surface 2. I see that you are having a on going issue with battery drainage and also an unregistered device. I'm glad that the community has been supportive and helpful so far.  This is great.

    I'll also suggest running the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter in Control Panel.

    1. Go to Control Panel
    2. Troubleshooting
    3. View all ( On the upper left Pane)
    4. Run the Hardware and Devices

    If the issue still persists, the other option is to refresh the device. I see that you willing to take that route.

    Have you tried refreshing your device yet? How did it go?  Also, remember to install all available updates once you done the refresh.

    Please let us know so we can dive into more troubleshooting and try to resolve this issue in the best way possible.

    I takmoman,

    I noticed on my device that when I'm in standby my battery also burns a percent or so an hour.  I reviewed my event logs/system and noticed that the graphics driver is crashing every 15 minutes.  If you look at your 4001 error can you relate them to when you are in standby mode, is it almost exactly every 15 minutes?

    I have just send mine in for replacement, didn't want to wait.. and just as I had UPS pick it up, a techsupport just called me with a possible solution that you guys might find helpful.. since I wont be able to test it!

    So here you go.. this should remove the Unregistered Device SE, according to the techsuppoerter:

    Step   2: In   the search box, enter  command prompt.
    Step   3: Touch   and hold (or right-click)  Command Promptto   bring up the context menu. Tap or click Run as administrator.
    Step   4: On   the  User Account Controldialog box, tap or   click  Yes.
    Step   5: At   the  Administrator: Command Prompt, enter the following: <br><br>  powercfg -setdcvalueindex SCHEME_CURRENT 19cbb8fa-5279-450e-9fac-8a3d5fedd0c1   12bbebe6-58d6-4636-95bb-3217ef867c1a 3
    Step   6: Then enter  <br><br>  powercfg -setactive scheme_current

    Update, I refreshed my surface today without the type cover attached and installed all the updates. Battery drain is still 1-2% per hour with display error popping up. I haven't run any other power or battery test yet because I only refreshed today. In a few days I'll run the tests to see if I notice any differences.

    Scottfaber, I did take a look at the display error. Prior to the refresh, the display error would pop up frequently in almost exactly 15min intervals as you stated. After the refresh, it's popping up every 30mins or so. No idea what's going on here.

    v0lum3, I did adjust this setting prior to the refresh and I didn't notice any difference. I'll try it again and update with any changes in a few days.
