Surface Pen makes screen flash black

I recently purchased a Surface Go to use for in-class note taking, along with a surface pen. I have been using it for approximately 2 weeks and have noticed an issue when using the pen. Randomly, about once a day when taking notes in OneNote, when I press the pen to the screen, the screen will flash black. Oddly, this only occurs when using solid colors for the the pen and pencil. The highlighter and rainbow colors do not do this. I can fix it by restarting it, but it is an inconvenience. Any ideas what is causing it and how I can prevent it from happening in the future?

    So I tried killing the Desktop Windows Manager and it did not shut off the computer, or fix the pen, so I restarted it to see if it would work. Now the tip of the pen doesn't work at all. It seems the only thing working correctly is the eraser button on the end for those quick shortcuts. It seems as though the screen is no longer registering the pen's touch. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the Bluetooth but that didn't do anything either. This is extremely disappointing, seeing as I got this pen for not only school but drawing as well. I've had this pen for almost two years at this point and has only now started to act up.

    I am on my third Surface model. I have had this problem with OneNote for the last 2 years.  I have grown accustomed to re-booting my laptop about 2 or 3 times a day.  Uninstalling and re-installing drivers and software has not helped.

    I have the same issue.  I am trying to teach from home, and this is EXTREMELY annoying.

    Please fix this.

    Ultimately...   did some driver resets... which solved the "blinking issue".     Microsoft support to walked me through the steps... sorry... I didn't write them down... but it was a software issue.      It was a "company" machine.... so we have full support which was nice.     BUT since the issue is known... it would be nice if Microsoft would POST the fix for everybody. 

    With all the testing.... discovered "dead zones" on my screen that didn't "write" ... and it was proved to be a hardware "display"  issue and Microsoft replaced the machine since it was still under warranty.

    This has just started happening for my Surface pro 6.  Exactly the same issue, pencil only in OneNote, pen works fine.  I've seen other forums saying it's an IT policy issue, I've checked the settings and everything is as per what it should be. I use OneNote 90% of my day for work, so it would be nice to get this fixed as it's clearly an issue for many people.
