Surface Pen makes screen flash black

I recently purchased a Surface Go to use for in-class note taking, along with a surface pen. I have been using it for approximately 2 weeks and have noticed an issue when using the pen. Randomly, about once a day when taking notes in OneNote, when I press the pen to the screen, the screen will flash black. Oddly, this only occurs when using solid colors for the the pen and pencil. The highlighter and rainbow colors do not do this. I can fix it by restarting it, but it is an inconvenience. Any ideas what is causing it and how I can prevent it from happening in the future?

    Hey thanks, but why you need to remove all the other drivers?

    I updated the driver to the intel one because I was having some issues waking up back from sleep. I am surprised that this has been a thread for so long and no fix

    My Surface Laptop 3 has this issue, with the setting already present in group policy, running 20H2 - it worked before this update!

    Makes taking notes nigh on impossible as it black screens every handful of strokes from the stylus!!!

    hey nice work

    always sceptical of answers.microsoft.com but this one worked like a charm :)

    i used a GPO to set it for all of out surface users and happy days.

    for others, you wont be able to find this account just type manually as per the example and make sure to reboot the device

    this works on surface pro7 1909 with the iris drivers

    MS pls fix this issue. For me too the same problem. Using OneNote and pencil and hdmi connection (projection) screen and projection turn black. Not plugging in hdmi cable ON pencil works. Please help asap! Thank you!

    MS, please fix this issue... The whole reason that I bought the surface pro x is to use the pen to teach my classes. After the recent upgrades/updates of Windows (after 8/20/2020 ish), my screen flickers whenever I try to write on OneNote 365. It is so annoying that I am about to return the tablet. However, I am reluctant because I love OneNote and it has been working great until recently.
