Surface Pen makes screen flash black

I recently purchased a Surface Go to use for in-class note taking, along with a surface pen. I have been using it for approximately 2 weeks and have noticed an issue when using the pen. Randomly, about once a day when taking notes in OneNote, when I press the pen to the screen, the screen will flash black. Oddly, this only occurs when using solid colors for the the pen and pencil. The highlighter and rainbow colors do not do this. I can fix it by restarting it, but it is an inconvenience. Any ideas what is causing it and how I can prevent it from happening in the future?

    That solution does not really work, so do not bother for now. It seems to work but on the next restart you get the black screen again

    unfortunately i am not technical savvy. is there anyway to dumb this down a bit for me? especially since apparently windows 10 doesnt have gpedit?

    I have the same problem now. Was there any resolution??? Im so mad that i cant erote morr than two words before the whole computer crashes

    Hey thanks, but why you need to remove all the other drivers?

    I updated the driver to the intel one because I was having some issues waking up back from sleep. I am surprised that this has been a thread for so long and no fix

    Hi Erwin, 

    There seemed to be overlap and incompatibilities amongst driver packs as far as I could tell. Thought it was best to just start with a clean slate and use the latest driver pack only. Force uninstalling and deleting the Intel Iris graphics driver ensured that Windows update didn't install the wrong driver version before the Surface Pro 7 driver package was installed. 

    oh, I think is not fixed on my machine. Can you confirm your script actually fixes it? I may try with that

    Thanks, I think it fixed the problem but it is difficult to know, pen is not something I use always, so I forget, and then when I need it... the button does not work anymore (which needs bluetooth repairing) and the screen flashes again. Surprising for one of the sell points of a 7th generation $2k USD device really.

    I just uninstalled everything manually tho. That black screen flashing was also messing some graphics apps (for example the tooltips in Google Chrome lose the alpha shadow after it flashes) and I thought it was some graphical issue, but I really do not want to start a RMA Surface endless loop.
