why can't I play audio and video on my Surface Duo?

How did you "reset" the app settings to "default?"
Are you using the stock Android Messages app or something else? Are all permissions for the Messages app enabled? I have Camera, Contacts, Files and media, Location, Microphone, Phone and SMS allowed. Also, try clearing the Messages app cache. Who is your provider?
I should have been more clear with my question and appreciate your response. My problem playing video and audio only occurs when I've received audio/video texts. Playing youtube , IG, etc outside of messaging works. But not while in messaging. I've never had this problem on my Duo before so this problem only started recently and I can't recall any setting that I've changed that may have started this problem.
I've reset the app settings to default and still doesn't work. Any advise is much appreciated.

What type of audio and video are you trying to play, and what app are you using to play it? I have no issues play media on my Duo 2 and had none on my Duo 1 before I traded it in for the Duo 2.
