I have a new Surface 3 and everything is working great except that while in the Microsoft Maps application the screen controls are not working to pan and Zoom. Other touch controls are working in Maps to select the zoom in/out, layers, setup, etc. It just won't pan or pinch to zoom.

Panning and zooming in other apps are working fine. I'm unable to find a setting that enables this in the Maps application.

Hi John,

To help resolve the issue with the panning and pinch to zoom capability of the Maps app on your Surface 3, we suggest that you follow the steps listed below:

Method 1: Check if your app needs an update

To see if you need to install an update for your app or change its settings, do the following:

  1. Go to Start, and enter security.
  2. In the search results, select Security and Maintenance.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to resolve any problems.

Method 2: Update Surface and Windows

  1. Go to Start and select Settings > Update & security > Windows Update.
  2. Select Advanced options and select View your update history.
  3. If any update has a status of “Requires a restart to finish installing,” go to Start and select Power > Restart. Don't shut down your Surface.
  4. Repeat the steps above until you no longer have any updates that require a restart.
  5. If any Surface update has a status of “Failed to install,” see Trouble installing Surface and Windows updates?

Let us know how it goes.

Regards.
