Thanks for taking the time to test it out Mick.
Its unfortunate that you confirmed what the rest of us have been experiencing, even with a fresh machine.
Also unfortunate that our friends from Microsoft here on the forum have gone quiet.

Hi,
Until recently I had no issues in using Kinect v2 on my Surface Book computer. Suddenly, after last week Windows and Surface Book firmware updates Kinect is not recognized anymore.
My configuration: Surface Book, i5/256
Kinect connected on the USB3 port of Surface Book
Powered either directly or via docking station
Kinect service set to use Nvidia card
Once I connect the USB cable the following happens:
What did I try?
Any idea? I believe it has to do with latest Windows 10 updates, drivers and latest Surface Book update too. Thank you!
Kind regards,
Gia

Same here.
Same problem here!!!Just remind Microsoft does NOT fix this issue at all.and I was contact to Xbox and Microsoft support for a very long time.but it also cant work.very disappointed!!
Hey all,
So the replacement Surface Book arrived today. Connected it to the internet, let it do whatever it wanted to do and that's it. It's Windows 10 Pro, version 10.0.14393 Build 14393. Didn't install anything else whatsoever, and went to try the Kinect with the Kinect for Windows Hub. Here's what happened:
In the SDK Configuration Verifier I get an error on USB Controller:
Result: Unknown USB 3.0 port detected. Your USB configuration may support Kinect for Windows.
So I can confirm a brand new Surface Book direct from Microsoft does not work with Kinect for Windows.
Have video of all of the above if it helps.
Thanks,
