Surface Duo Bumpers Delaminating

The Surface Duo bumper is made with a hard piece of plastic (that adheres to the Duo frame) and a soft rubber (that covers the hard plastic and adheres to it with some sort of adhesive). Both of the Surface Duo bumpers (one came with the Duo and the other was purchased from the Microsoft Store) delaminating. First, the adhesive that attached the plastic under portion of the bumper to the Duo frame is failing, starting with the edges nearest the hinges but moving inward to the corners and the fingerprint reader and SIM areas. Then the soft rubber part is detaching from the hard plastic part in the same areas.

Is anyone else seeing this? In the first case the bumper and Duo were eight months old; in the second they were six months old. At $40 each this should not be happening.

Any thoughts from Microsoft? (Not that I expect a response here...)

Thanks for sharing this issue about the bumpers of your Surface Duo. So far, this has been an uncommon issue with the bumpers, but no worries we'll be making sure that this will be acknowledged. In the meantime, if you'd notice that your Surface Duo accessory show physical damage then you could always request a possible exchange. So I contacted Microsoft Support using the call back feature. The sound from the agent was garbled. When I asked to be re-connected with someone who had a clear line I was disconnected.

Also, my phone provider (Frontier Communications) tagged the call as "Possible Spam" meaning it did not pass the new authentication features of the phone system.

Very disappointed....
