Surface earbuds phone call and Teams audio only coming through right earbud

Hello - Recently received the Surface Earbuds and they work great when watching/streaming videos and listening to music with Spotify. However, for some reason, when I take a phone call from my mobile phone or enable audio with Microsoft Teams, audio only comes in through the right earbud and not the left. Tried disconnecting and reconnecting several times and can't seem to find an appropriate setting.

What am I missing?

I too am having issues with Audio in Teams.  Seems to be regardless if paired via my Surface Book 2 or my iPhone XS.  I hear some hissing sounds, some reverb/feedback.  When listening to music, watching a video or conducting a mobile call via iPhone, I have no issues.  The problem seems to be only with Teams audio.

Hello @janette_Z - I placed the earbuds back into the charging case and plugged in the charging cable. Charged it for about 20 minutes, and when I tried again, it now works correctly.

    For reference:

    • May we know the make and model of the smartphone you're using? Google Pixel 4 XL
    • What other apps are involved when the issue happens? None, just Phone calls and Microsoft Teams
    • Have you tried the earbuds on another host device to see if the same thing happens? Yes, my Surface Laptop (first generation). Same issue.
    • Does it happen when you make outgoing calls or does it only happen when receiving calls? Both.
    • Earbuds were updated prior to the issue

    Hi, oasmus!

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your concerns. We are sorry to learn you have issues with your new Surface Earbuds that doesn't allow audio on the left earbud when you take a phone call from your smartphone and when enabling audio with Microsoft Team. This isn't the experience that we want you to have. Thanks for taking the time to let us know about this and allowing us to help you out.

Please allow us to ask the following:

    • May we know the make and model of the smartphone you're using?
    • What other apps are involved when the issue happens?
    • Have you tried the earbuds on another host device to see if the same thing happens?
    • Does it happen when you make outgoing calls or does it only happen when receiving calls?

In the meantime, kindly perform the following on to your Surface Earbuds.

    • Place the earbuds back in the charging case for 15 seconds, then check if the same thing happens.

If that does not resolve the issue, please try to restart the host device. In your case, it is your phone.

If it is, try to disconnect and reconnect the earbuds again via the Surface Audio app.

We hope this helps you out and let us know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Janette_Z
