Not able to pair replacement USB Link with Surface Headphones 2+

I received my Surface USB Link replacement and try to follow the instructions at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/get-a-replacement-for-microsoft-surface-usb-link-e862e6c6-0945-494f-bb4d-2e731f3b4724. But the Surface app does not show "Surface Headphones" as a listed accessory in the Surface app. I can connect the headphones via Bluetooth, and then they show if the usb link is not plugged in. As soon as I insert the usb link they go away from the Surface app.

The USB link is showing as an audio device, but I have no way to pair it with my head phones. Another issue is that the Surface app crash on most PC's when I launch it, but I have it running on one at least.

Any suggestions/ideas on how to pair the replacement USB link with my headphones?

Appreciate the effort, but the issue is the replacement USB Link not showing up in the Surface app as per the doc link I referred to. Not pairing the Surface Headphone 2+ it itself. As that works on bluetooth, and worked on the original USB link.

If the replacement USB Link won't show in the Surface app it's not possible to pair it with the headphones.

I am experiencing the same thing. The instructions (Get a replacement for Microsoft Surface USB Link) to pair a replacement USB Link with Surface Headphones 2+ are incorrect. The Surface app does not have the option to pair a replacement USB Link, rendering the replacement USB Link useless. Please advise ASAP.

If the USB link can't be recognized on your Surface (host device), then please try performing these steps:

Force a shut down and restart your Surface

    • Press and hold down the power button until your Surface shuts down and restarts and you see the Windows logo screen (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.

    Run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type Surface Diagnostic Toolkit, then select it in the list of results.
If it's not already installed, you can download it from the Microsoft Store.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions in the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit.

Update Windows. Ensure all pending updates are installed.

    • Select Check for Windows updates. Or select Start > Settings > Windows Update.

Manually install drivers and firmware for Surface

    • Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version by typing winveron the search barnear the Windows logo.
    • Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface**,**choose (your Surface model) then click Download.
Choose the .msi file closest to your current OS Build and click Next.
After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.

Run the System File Checker in Windows

Let me know how it goes.
