These requests reflect how well the toy tablets like the iPad have misguided people's understandings. Nobody asks for a "USB charger" for their notebook computer. The Surface RT & Pro are in the notebook computer class and
not in the iPad class.
I'm sorry, but the Surface RT is NOT a notebook class computer. It's obviously an iPad class device. And as such, people expect these tablets to be able to be charged from USB ports like nearly all other modern mobile devices. Treating the Surface as a PC
style computer with PC style limitations and users of such devices as "ignorant" lemmings of a iPad culture is a horrible approach.
I don't care if it takes me 10 hours to charge my Surface RT from a USB adapter. I want the option to charge the darn thing that way when I'm in a 10 hour road trip without having to split atoms with adapters and converters to cater to an oversight on Microsoft's
part that isn't an issue with the Kindle, iPad, or Android style tablets. This talk down culture of looking at users as idiots for their requests and assumptions of Microsoft products is an obvious reason why Apple has stolen all the thunder in the last decade
starting from the iPod through today.
Listen to your customers!! I just lost my bulky power adapter for my Surface RT and it's basically a paper weight now since I can't charge it via USB and replacement power adapters cost ~$65, which is absurd.
