Pen taps registering as double clicks

I installed a pending driver update on my SP4 yesterday and the anniversary update today. Now tapping with the pen registers as a double-click about 10% of the time, which makes pen input pretty much useless. The usual calibration options and settings in Settings, Control Panel and the Surface app didn't have any effect on this. I tried manually installing the latest SP4 drivers (8/3) but that didn't change anything, either.

This is also noticeable when drawing a continuous line. The The pen is suddenly detected as not pressed, and immediately again as pressed.

Hey everyone,

I was like everybody, ever since I got my Surface Pro 4 my pen always randomly double-click while I tried to use touch keyboard.

So after I tried to search through all the forums and reddit. I stumbled into this site:

Basically it lets you re-calibrate your pen.

-Simply type "calibrate" into your search bar and choose "calibrate the screen for pen or touch input".

-Choose "Setup" to first reset your pen by clicking the screen when prompt one time, then press enter after that to return.

-Choose "Calibrate" and then "Pen input".

-Use the pen to tap on the cross-hair point at the corner of your screen (It's kinda hard to find, but just follow the line and you'll see them eventually.

-After you are done, choose "Save"

This basically solve the problem for me, so I hope this help the others who are looking for a solution as well :)

    I also had my device replaced and the issue reappeared after installing the annivesary update. If it affected all the replacement units, than it should affect all Surface Pro 4 devices (or at least the majority). I dont't think so many people can be that unlucky to get faulty devices over and over again.

    Most people probably don't use the pen for regular inputs often, so they don't notice this. Also, while handwriting notes, the issue "only" results in ugly letters from time to time.

    Contacting support or visiting stores is still the best (and only) way to raise awarness.

    Just a quick FYI:  Firmware and driver for surface updated 1/18/17 - yet problem remains.

    our vendor for the surface has a Microsoft account rep that has tried to escalate this but so they are getting nowhere on that front - not good if you are ignoring your own people

    I don't know what the replacement limit is but we have had 2 units replaced 3 times - these have a commercial warranty, don't know if that matters but the replacements were done as soon as we told them the problem was not solved - we got our VAR and their Micorsoft rep involved so maybe that was a factor - I had suspected this might be firmware related. We use Symantec Ghost to deploy our computers and I had a pre-anniversary image that I restored to a problem unit but the issue was still there after the reimage.
