Pen taps registering as double clicks

I installed a pending driver update on my SP4 yesterday and the anniversary update today. Now tapping with the pen registers as a double-click about 10% of the time, which makes pen input pretty much useless. The usual calibration options and settings in Settings, Control Panel and the Surface app didn't have any effect on this. I tried manually installing the latest SP4 drivers (8/3) but that didn't change anything, either.

This is also noticeable when drawing a continuous line. The The pen is suddenly detected as not pressed, and immediately again as pressed.

Hey everyone,

I was like everybody, ever since I got my Surface Pro 4 my pen always randomly double-click while I tried to use touch keyboard.

So after I tried to search through all the forums and reddit. I stumbled into this site:

Basically it lets you re-calibrate your pen.

-Simply type "calibrate" into your search bar and choose "calibrate the screen for pen or touch input".

-Choose "Setup" to first reset your pen by clicking the screen when prompt one time, then press enter after that to return.

-Choose "Calibrate" and then "Pen input".

-Use the pen to tap on the cross-hair point at the corner of your screen (It's kinda hard to find, but just follow the line and you'll see them eventually.

-After you are done, choose "Save"

This basically solve the problem for me, so I hope this help the others who are looking for a solution as well :)

    Same problem here. It is so annoying. Microsoft really needs to address this long lasting problem.

    At least we know it's a Software/Firmware issue. When I got my replacement SP4 it came with an older version of Win10 and an older Firmware. I thoroughly tested the pen and it was working fine. However, after the anniversary updates went through, the pen-double-input started again.

    I already contacted microsofts support multiple times and reported this issue, now all I can do is wait.

    I'm so glad to have finally found this post. I just purchased a Surface Pro 4 and I noticed the double input while using the pen immediately. I thought it was due to a imperfection of the pen tip, however when I brought it in to the Microsoft store to add the warranty and got a new pen tip, the problem persisted.

    Staff were shown the problem and they actually just gave me a new surface when the tablet I had was only a day old. They said they had never seen an issue like this before. When I opened the brand new tablet with a brand new pen, the problem was still there. Would happily do whatever it takes to get this problem fixed because I was starting to seriously regret my purchase. Glad to see I'm not the only one with this issue. Hopefully a future software fix will change this because I cannot use the pen.

    I don't use a screen protector and still experience this issue. Like I said earlier, my replacement SP4 came with an older firmware and worked fine until updated past the anniversary update.
