I am so beyond disappointed!! I bought one of the most expensive versions of the Surface Book 2 (i7, 15 inches, 512 GB) and it its wifi connection is only half the speed of my old i5 and i3 laptops!!! IT IS UNACCEPTABLE for the price I paid (almost 3000 dollars for the computer, and if you add accessories and extended warranty, more than 3600!!).
I have tried everything: resetting the network, reinstalling the wireless adapter drivers, resetting windows from scratch...everything!. I have a 100 Mbps connection at home and all my laptops and smartphones get wifi speeds around 45-50 Mbps, but the SB2 gets 20 Mbps and most of the time it does not even get to 10 Mbps.
I have been reading many other testimonies online of people experiencing the same. I feel scammed.
Not only that, it also seems that there is some kind of incompatibility with the design software I use (Sketchup and Vray). They work flawlessly in my older computers. They crash all the time with the Surface Book 2.
Seriously thinking about returning it. They pull you in with the shiny exterior, but it is a substandard product.

Thats becuase your phone most likely has a decent Qualcomm chipset. Microsoft opting to use the Marvell chipset (costs, supply, intellectual property issues or whatever) was a BIG mistake. At the very least Microsoft should have used Intel Wifi/BT chipset.
as an update, i think previously i said bluetooth being on may have been a contributing factor. well it definitely isnt bluetooth because i get **** speed tests with it off now. unbelievable that my phone can get twice the speed (150mbps versus the surface book only getting 70 mbps) on the same connection, standing in the same spot, etc.
I have exactly the same problem, I have placed a Surface Pro 4 alongside the SB2 with the same adaptor connected to the same network and the speed differential is astounding. The SB2 wireless network speed is both inconsistent and frankly retarded. Its been a decade since I returned brand new hardware, but this is likely to be a reset for me. Really disappointing.
You know, at this point I just want my $3000.00 back. I'll wipe the SB2 and return it to them if I can just have my money back. I have already replaced this machine because it doesn't work as advertised. Forget network speed, I've tried to use it just doing work and it can't do that. It keeps "pausing" for just a second every few minutes like it's trying to do something else, probably trying to call home on it worthless network connection.
Really, all I want at this point is my money back.
That's unusual and never happens on my SB2... which leads me to think it's a software issue. Have you tried a clean install of 1903? I run my SB2 hard... often using two external displays, multiple desktops, simultaneous downloads, etc and everything is extremely fluid. Not a single hesitation unless it's a known program at fault (eg, an alpha/dev build of Edge or some other beta software). The latest Win 10 1903 even sped things up a bit. Couldn't be happier. Again, I'd suggest you start fresh with the latest Win 10 build, let it pull the requisite drivers, then incrementally install your apps to see if you can nail down the culprit.
It could be software. I know my SB2 was not constantly throttling to .4GHz and the fan was working on 1703/1709. I started getting BSODs and throttling more recently on 1803/1809. Hard to know if its a SB2 driver/firmware issue or Windows 10 issue. I dont think MS has even released updated SB2 drivers/firmware in a while and I dont see the pack for 1903 yet. Are you saying you did not install the Surface Book firmware/driver package after installing 1903?
