Slow Wifi with brand new Surface Book 2!!!

I am so beyond disappointed!! I bought one of the most expensive versions of the Surface Book 2 (i7, 15 inches, 512 GB) and it its wifi connection is only half the speed of my old i5 and i3 laptops!!! IT IS UNACCEPTABLE for the price I paid (almost 3000 dollars for the computer, and if you add accessories and extended warranty, more than 3600!!).

I have tried everything: resetting the network, reinstalling the wireless adapter drivers, resetting windows from scratch...everything!. I have a 100 Mbps connection at home and all my laptops and smartphones get wifi speeds around 45-50 Mbps, but the SB2 gets 20 Mbps and most of the time it does not even get to 10 Mbps.

I have been reading many other testimonies online of people experiencing the same. I feel scammed.

Not only that, it also seems that there is some kind of incompatibility with the design software I use (Sketchup and Vray). They work flawlessly in my older computers. They crash all the time with the Surface Book 2.

Seriously thinking about returning it. They pull you in with the shiny exterior, but it is a substandard product.

This entire thread are people having issues on both 2.4 and 5 and on multiple networks.  Microsoft is very aware of this issue.

Can you please clarify? Are you saying you are having speed issues on 5GHz? For me, I had speed issues on 2.4GHz and zero issues on 5GHz. Are you sure you are not starting out on a 2.4ghz network and then its switching to 5GHz which is resolving your speed issue?

Yes, my speed issues are at 5Ghz (I haven't try forcing 2.4Ghz), my adapter advanced settings are in "Band: Auto" and as I'm typing this it's connected to the 5Ghz band.

Very interesting. I dont think I've heard from anyone that they are having speed issues on 5GHz. Have you tried a different internet connection/router/etc to rule out an issue with your network setup/signal?

Just got a SB2 (13" i7), and I'm having the same experience after upgrading to version 1809.

It's frustrating, but what works for me is disabling and re-enabling the network adapter (Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller), and then checking my speed at speedtest.net, I have to repeat this 1 or two times until I get high network speeds at 5Ghz.

The difference is dramatic, from 8Mbps to >120Mbps when fixed.

You can use the PowerShell command below to restart your WiFi adapter in the SB2:

    Restart-NetAdapter -Name "Wi-Fi"

The PowerShell window must be in administrator mode, try this until you get decent speeds in speedtest.net.

Also, my WiFi system is an Ubiquiti Networks AmpliFi HD.
