Surface Go 2 Main Camera - not functioning/installed

Main camera is just a black screen.

Once an attempt to take a picture with the main camera generated this message:0xA00F4928<photocapturestarttimeout>

Rear facing (above screen) works fine.

Device manager only shows one camera: Intel(R) AVStream Camera 2500.

Have searched for drivers, Installed drivers from MS Surface Go 2 page all to no avail.

Fixable or return under warranty?

I'm having the exact same issue with my Go 2. Did you ever resolve this?

Also, it's normal to have only one camera listed in Device Manager. I know someone with a Surface Pro 7 and two functioning cameras. She has only one camera (Intel(R) AVStream...) listed under Device Manager. So I believe that represents the front and the back.

But maybe if Microsoft support chimed in they could clear things up...?

    Hello, MichaelContos!

May we know how the front camera is on your Surface Go 2?

By the way, did you visit this page to do all steps mentioned?

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17444/windows-camera-app-webcams-help

Is this happening on the built-in Windows Camera app?

Can you try to see if you can take a photo using another app (Skype or any other app that has camera functionality you wish to use) or maybe try on a web browser then visit Facebook to see if you can take a photo from there?

    Looking forward for your response!

    Regards,

    Janette_Z

Those 6 replies were from tech support scammers. If it were me, I'd return for full refund and repurchase.

If I attempt to alter the main camera setting from the Camera app I get the BSOD "KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED."

From what I can gather the device manager should list 2 cameras I am only seeing one.

Any ideas or is this beyond the scope of the community to address?

Using the camera app, when the Main Camera (camera in lid). is selected the little white LED does come on but the image remains black. Again, only 1 camera is listed on the Device Manager
