Surface Duo with Android 11 Digital Hearing Aid Compatibility

I have been using a Galaxy 10s on Android 11. I wear rechargeable hearing aids that work very well with Android 11. Before I purchased this Surface Duo I tried to read up on how other hearing aid users fare with this on the Surface Duo on Android 11 but I found little in the way of clear indicators, one way or the other. I am now on Day 2 of self-training and configuring the phone the way I like it and for the life of my I cannot get the hearing aids to work. They connect by Bluetooth to the Surface fine, but once the devices are connected, they do not work. I can't take phone calls or listen to music, or anything. Is there something I may be overlooking or is this a known challenge with a work around? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Fliving and other posters,

I have inquired internally and have come back with this:

Audio streaming from Bluetooth hearing aids is not supported on Surface Duo as the Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA) protocol is not supported.

I have a Lively Battery hearing aid and have the same issue as reported by Fliving and others. VERY dissapointing. Lively suggested their "Phone Clip", which I might try.

John_Lockhart - is there a chance this can get on an "Enhancement Request" list (and that it might actually happen)? I REALLY like the Duo 2; but this could be a showstopper.

Thank you for your response. I guess Microsoft has determined there isn't enough in it to support development. This Accessibility protovlcol is becoming the defacto protocol that does not have Apple attached to it. This is disappointing. Without it, a user would have a hard time using the Duo other than occasionally for lack of audio sensory. Maybe it is expected they'll use Microsoft ear buds instead. If things change, please update thus thread if possible. Thanks. FL

I think my problem matches the "fliving"s description. I notice the he mention to have a Suface Duo as I do and not the Duo 2 as described by "JohnAttack". Here is my experience with the Duo (1). It seams like the Duo 2 got more from the Android 11 update than the Duo.

I'm a hearing aid user (Widex Moment 440) and also a proud owner of the original Suface Duo. I'm using an iPhone, because Widex did not support Android at the time for the purchase of the hearing aid., so until now, I use the Duo for reading only. A short while ago Widex anounced the support of Android phone, if the phone is running Android 11 and has support for Bluetooth 5.0.

Not long ago the Surface Duo was upgraded to Android 11 and according to the sepecs of the Duo, it also have Bluetooth 5.0. This is what I experience:

The Widex Moment 440 connect to the Duo Bluetooth. The Widex Moment Android app accepts the connection and when I chance to a different hsound profile, I hear a voice in my aids speaking the name of the profile. But that's it. It's not possible to pair to the hearing aids from any musik app or get connected from the phone. There are no references to the hearing aids in the accessibility section of the Settings menu.

I have signia over the ear hearing aids. They connect to my surface duo 2 and show up in settings Bluetooth and also accessibility They work in the sense that you can change the volume etc but when someone calls you can not hear the call through the hearing aid. I tried using a pixel 6 and it worked fine. Is there a problem.
