Trouble with three new USB-C ethernet adapters and a Surface Go 2, two fail, one works, help

all three adapters are new, the Surface is used and running W10.

the network adapter setup is set to full auto in all three cases.

The Excellon adapter establishes connection successfully and seems to use IPv4, internet service operates and LEDs on the Excellon adapter blink.

Two other devices, one Plugable, one SATECHI, establish network connection but fail to establish internet connection. Running Windows diagnostics throws up the same fault message in both cases, the wording is "no IP address" or something very similar. Internet connection fails to establish and adapter LEDs are dark.

Here's the problem, the Excellon device, which provides internet service, is a standalone USBC ethernet adapter, no other functions. The other two, which don't provide internet service despite being new and seemingly compatible, are both mini dock stations and include lots of other fun stuff besides ethernet, I need the mini-dock variety to provide internet.

What can be going wrong?

I explored the details of the Windows network adapter setup in all three cases, the Excellon IP and DNS address codes which operate normally differ wildly from the other pair, though all are set to acquire their addresses automatically.

How should I proceed?

After reading everything you posted here, I noticed that all three USB-C Ethernet adapters are third party accessories from Excellon, Plugable, and SATECHI.

If you are looking to find out why Excellon's USB-C Ethernet adapter works on the Surface Go 2, but Plugable and SATECHI do not, unfortunately we may not be able to give any advice as they are not Microsoft products. We don't know much about their compatibility.

If our users have the need to use dock, we only recommend using Microsoft's official Surface dock:

Because this is the best match for Surface series devices, they have the best compatibility.
