Surface Laptop Studio will not charge occasionally / depletes battery at alarming rate.

Every once in awhile my Surface Laptop Studio will refuse to charge - or atleast it says it's charging but clearly isn't. The battery then depletes at a rate of almost 1% every minute until in shuts off at 0%. Then I have to repeatedly restart it, plug in charging cable, for almost an hour to get it to start charging again. This isn't a charger issue. This is possibly some odd software issue.

Why Microsoft wants be to make a post instead of talking to an employee is beyond me.

Thank you for your patience and feedback as we worked on this. A fix is now available through Windows Update. After installing the update, please restart (not Shutdown) your Surface Laptop Studio. If the issue continues to occur, here is a workaround that has helped others start charging again:

Connect your Surface power supply and make sure the power connector light is on.
Save all your work and shutdown your Surface.
Once shutdown, press and hold down the power button, you will see the Windows logo screen flash and then turn off, continue to hold down the power button (about 20 seconds) until you see the Windows logo screen flash again and then release the power button.

What really annoys me about this, is that the support people say they have never heard of the problem!

That is a blatant lie and is why, I doubt this problem will ever be fixed.

As mentioned earlier, this problem has been going on with my experience since 2016. My first Surface Pro had three power supplies before it got better, but still not working.

A second Surface Pro did this same, followed by two Surface Books and now this Surface Studio.

Okie so I’m having the same problem too. I’m starting to realise that it doesn’t charge properly whenever my laptop’s battery is below 40%. It used to happen every. single. day. but recently I’ve kept it above 40% so it doesn’t happen anymore. Let me know if it’s the same for you guys.

Since there isn’t a fix yet, there’s a temporary solution that will hopefully help. Whenever my laptop wasn’t charging, I would get a macbook pro charger (USB-C) and plug it in. At this point, it would start charging again. It didn’t matter how long I plugged in the macbook charger, it just charges normally again, even with the surface charger. This is my experience and I haven’t tried other types of USB-C chargers yet.

Anyways, shame on you, Microsoft, for not even addressing this problem.

Here we go again, all I can do is wait helplessly for it to die so I can get back to work. Please can you all go file complaints with the Better Business Bureau against Microsoft, as I'm going to do as soon as my battery dies and restarts 🤣

Mine started doing the same thing a couple of days back. I had a good run of luck, but that run seemed to have come to an end. I have reached the end of my rope on this issue.
