Troubleshooting multiple monitors on a Surface Dock 2 (Surface Pro 7)

I recently complained about this issue, but was able to resolve it by using new cables.  The problem lies with the use of any adapter with the cables.  So by using a USB-C to HDMI cable for one monitor and a USB-C to DVI cable for my second monitor, it works perfectly.  So now including my Surface Pro 7, I have 3 monitors to work with which is exactly what I was looking for.  All 3 monitors turn on as soon as I dock my Surface Pro 7 and turn it on.

Remember, don't use any adapters with your cables (Anker or whatever other brand).  Just use a single cables directly from the USB-C slot on the Dock 2 directly to whatever input your monitors may have - HDMI, DVI, USB-C, etc.

And there is no need to buy those $65 cables that Microsoft sells.  You can get good cables from Amazon for a fraction of that price.  Good luck!

Similar experience where laptop display setting indicates detecting the dual monitors; however, the actual monitors remain black with message "Input Signal Not Found". I am working with the following components:

• Surface Laptop 3
• Surface Dock 2
• 2x HP 27" FHD IPS monitor
• 2x USBC to HDMI cables (running from monitors to back of Dock)

One unique experience was that I left the setup in place for an extended period of time and after 3+ hours, one of the monitors randomly started to display. I did nothing to update or change settings that would initiate that and the second monitor remained blacked out even though matching setup.

Question: I was told that reverting back to an original version 1 dock would likely not create issue (though require different cables as USBC would not be dock input, correct?). Anyone have experience with that being the case. I'm not running 4k, I just want a basic two monitor setup to work with Surface Laptop 3 and happy to take any route that is reliable and allows for single wired input with the laptop if possible.

Having the same issue in a school using both Surface Go2 and Surface Pro7 with the Surface Dock 2 connecting 2 external displays with HDMI to USB-C cables.

The connection has just not been consistent since they were installed early September. Screens randomly going off or effecting the Windows 10 display settings and changing between extended or duplicated when the Surface is disconnected and reconnected.

We have upgraded firmware, tried different cables and ports and two months on the situation has not improved. The result is that our teaching staff are losing faith in the technology and it is causing frustration as it is regularly eating into lesson time when the technology needs to be reliable and just work.

These were purchased having reviewed the capability of the Surface dock 2 and feeling assured that they would deliver what we need and from past experience with the dock 1, that did not have such problems.

I have found that my best solution is to go into Settings->display->select the monitor that is not working->scroll down to advanced display settings->change the refresh rate. I toggle mine between 60 and 59 back and forth. Eventually, the second monitor will start working. I have also noticed that if I played Netflix on the working monitor, the second monitor will magically start working. I also get an error from Netflix at the same time though.

Thats exactly how i solved my issue. Instead of connecting with an WARRKY USB-C to HDMI adapter, now using a simple cable with USB-C to HDMI, and - it works!
