Thanks. I've tried all the above and sometimes they work other times it's a struggle so I've given up went back to my original surface dock that has no problems with dual monitors and the surface screen every single time.

I'm trying to connect a new Pro 7 to two external monitors (Acer) through the Surface Dock. I'm using two USB C to HDMI cables.
The Surface can detect the monitors and assigns them numbers (2 and 3) but the screens remain black and no numbers (or other display) shows up.
If I disconnect one of the monitors, the other one immediately turns on. It's quite bizarre.
I have updated the driver, downloaded firmware updates, disconnected/reconnected everything, and generally done everything that it says on the support page.
I would be grateful if someone could let me know what I need to do to fix this.

2021-11-12T19:25:59+00:00 You wouldn't happen to be trying to have your surface device outputting a video signal as well, would you? To my knowledge, the surface dock can only power a certain number of monitors at one time. I don't have the Surface dock 2 with the USB-C ports, but I have the Surface dock 1 second generation I believe.
I have two 32" HP Pavilion QHD monitors connected to my Surface dock with my Surface Book 2's screen turned off. They're working fine. Another note, I've mentioned this before but I don't think anybody has tried or listened. I'm pretty sure the Surface dock's connector only works connected to your surface device in one direction. The reason I mention this is because when I only had one 32" monitor connected with the Surface dock connector connected to my Surface Book 2 in one direction, it wouldn't output to the monitor no matter what I tried as far as drivers or cable connectors. As soon as I swapped the connector from the dock to the Surface Book 2 in the opposite direction, it worked fine.
Just something to try if you haven't tried already.

2021-11-12T13:36:31+00:00 That's the dance i've been going through as well. it's interesting to note that having both external monitors at different refresh rates (one at 59.94 and the other at 79.973) seems to reduce the number of times it takes for the reset to work for both monitors. Note this is a warranty replacement of my original Dock 2 that has the exact same issues. This is unacceptable.
What other options are there to drive two external monitors? If none them I'm going back to Dell.

It makes MS hardware, SW, and support team pieces of junk that can’t get their **** right. It’s pathetic that so many customers are in pain and they don’t care.

1 year of trying to fix this "bug" and this combination saved the Surface Dock 2 to be thrown out of the window!
