Surface 4 Pro screen bulging at lower left edge and separated from the frame

I have a Surface 4 Pro that I purchased in March 2016. Over the last few days, I was seeing a considerable color bleed on lower left edge of the screen. Then I stared noticing that that type cover does not seem to close flat against the screen. On closer inspection, I found that the screen is bulging (curving out) on the lower left side and the screen edge has separated from the frame, exposing a gap, Some of the circuitry inside seems to be pushing out as well from what I can see through the gap, indicating something inside is exerting an outward pressure. I pushed the screen back in and with a little pressure it got flattened. However, after a few minutes use, the screen bulged out again. There is no physical damage to the screen, the bezel or the device in general, no cracks or scratches.

What is causing this and what is a possible solution?

    i guess all we can do now is hoping perhaps in a near future that a class action will be instantiated just to stick it to MS.

    I'm having the same issue, an expanding and separating of the lower left area of my surface pro 4 screen, from back. It also feels like its not just an empty bulge, but rather hard parts pushing it out (the battery expanding?). So encouraged by the responses in this thread, I called Microsoft support who was very responsive. Nevertheless because the computer is about 5 years old and the warranty long expired, they are not going to replace it.. 

    The best option they could offer was to replace it for a similar model for half the current retail price. So a refurbished surface pro 4 for around 600 euros. No thanks.

    I'd rather buy a new one for a few hundred more The question is now, if I would risk another expanding battery. Or get another brand. I have never seen this issue before. While I understand MS policy here (it's a old computer and out of warranty), this is nevertheless a workmanship issue. Disappointed.

    I'll never again buy any Microsoft hardware. Had nothing but problems with the Surface.

    I had the same issue and my SP4 was purchased on 2016. it was well out of warranty and looked into options for replacing the battery but no service center's at my place. Finally i called the customer care and they were really helpful and quick to create a service order.

    I was asked to take a video to show the screen swelling out along with the device serial number.

    I got a refurbished SP7 within a week and i was not asked to send the faulty device back to them. I lost productivity for 1.5 weeks overall as its by daily driver but im satisfied Microsoft has sent the alternate unit for no extra charges.

    I don’t believe a word of this post.

    MS is not only charging people for a replacement of faulty product, they are now trying to confuse the customers.
