Surface 4 Pro screen bulging at lower left edge and separated from the frame

I have a Surface 4 Pro that I purchased in March 2016. Over the last few days, I was seeing a considerable color bleed on lower left edge of the screen. Then I stared noticing that that type cover does not seem to close flat against the screen. On closer inspection, I found that the screen is bulging (curving out) on the lower left side and the screen edge has separated from the frame, exposing a gap, Some of the circuitry inside seems to be pushing out as well from what I can see through the gap, indicating something inside is exerting an outward pressure. I pushed the screen back in and with a little pressure it got flattened. However, after a few minutes use, the screen bulged out again. There is no physical damage to the screen, the bezel or the device in general, no cracks or scratches.

What is causing this and what is a possible solution?

Thanks,

Deepak

Shortly after I communicated with Microsoft, they sent me a special package for shipping, designed to contain any thermal event that might happen en route. That came quickly. The packaged computer had to go by surface (no pun intended) transportation to South Texas, which took about a week. After it was received, I received the replacement, probably via 2 day express shipping.

    Hello,

I live in Mumbai, India. I faced the same screen bulging issues which has been reported by lot of people in this forum. My surface pro 4 is 2.5 years and is well out of warranty. However, when I logged into my microsoft account and raised a service request, I received a call within 10 minutes from their support team in USA. They made me take some snapshots which I emailed to them. The very next day I received an email from a person called Sean from the Corporate Team. He had looked at the photos and had authorized the replacement.

I received the replacement from their factory in Gurgaon, India delivered to me in 2 business days. In the following 2 weeks after receiving my replacement, I also received a special carton with a metal bucket and thermocol covering & instructions about packing my defective SP4. Their forwarder contacted me and had the consignment picked up.

From the time I reported the issue, my replacement was authorized in 2 business days though the pickup of the defective part took time but that's fine.

Overall, I am highly satisfied with the response to the issue by the MS Team.

I got mine under repairs with no charge even being out of warranty, only since they found the issue to be genuine flaw of the product and not physical accidental damage. Troubleshooting says its due to the exanded battery the screen has bulged.
