Surface 4 Pro screen bulging at lower left edge and separated from the frame

@EmiraBajramovic, they extended the warranty for only this issue to 3 years.  You are entitled to a free replacement.  Go to the Microsoft store or call them.

It's the same with me, three weeks ago I did an update, and there was this little stain on the left side of the display, after that display has stuck out and today it broke. But the problem is that my laptop is exactly two years and three months old, which means that my warranty has expired. I'm going to wait until it doesn't explode...

I called Microsoft. Warranty expired. They replaced my unit. All I had to do was return the damaged device per instructions in a box they sent me. 

I was told this is a result of the battery expanding. 

They will ask for pictures of the damage and the serial number.

My issue was reaolved and I have received my replacement.

On closer inspection, I found that the screen is bulging (curving out) on the lower left side and the screen edge has separated from the frame, exposing a gap, Some of the circuitry inside seems to be pushing out as well from what I can see through the gap, indicating something inside is exerting an outward pressure. I pushed the screen back in and with a little pressure it got flattened. However, after a few minutes use, the screen bulged out again. There is no physical damage to the screen, the bezel or the device in general, no cracks or scratches.

What is causing this and what is a possible solution?

I have the same problem. After paying so much you would expect some quality. A friend of mine also had the same problem and it exploded on a flight to Dubai and caught fire in the cabin. This is a disaster waiting to happen and I am worried for my safety as I fly a lot too and can't afford to pay out another $2700 for another laptop.

I had the same problem, but like you, my SP4 was out of warranty and Microsoft would not replace it without paying for the replacement. I told the CS rep that before I paid more money for a system I already had thousands invested in I would toss it and buy an HP. She called me back and said, and I quote, "you should toss it and buy an HP". So I did. Much happier with my HP Spectre.

Wow, I have the same problem. I'm an Architect and have to expose clients, colleagues, and consultants to my defective Microsoft laptop evey day - this is appealing. I am shocked by the quality. Thankfully everyone I meet with my laptop is also in awe given how much I paid.
