Surface 4 Pro screen bulging at lower left edge and separated from the frame

In order to talk to someone live, you have to call into the system and wait on hold FOREVER. But, it won't do a lot for you. In fact, you will likely be more frustrated as they don't care. You can try to use the messenger feature and then have them call you. I have tried both. You can even try contacting them through social media as well...

I have a Surface 4 Pro that I purchased in March 2016. Over the last few days, I was seeing a considerable color bleed on lower left edge of the screen. Then I stared noticing that that type cover does not seem to close flat against the screen. On closer inspection, I found that the screen is bulging (curving out) on the lower left side and the screen edge has separated from the frame, exposing a gap, Some of the circuitry inside seems to be pushing out as well from what I can see through the gap, indicating something inside is exerting an outward pressure. I pushed the screen back in and with a little pressure it got flattened. However, after a few minutes use, the screen bulged out again. There is no physical damage to the screen, the bezel or the device in general, no cracks or scratches.

What is causing this and what is a possible solution?

I think the best solution is to switch brands away from Microdoft. Any suggestions? I cannot get a live person to pick up a telephone.

Sadly Deepak, etc, your problems have been around for quite a few years now and are not going away any day soon.  Just read back over the 20 pages on the topic on this very forum, depressing reading I promise you.

The seriously disappointing bit is a large, global firm like Microsoft who blatantly ignore an issue that impacts a once respected brand (Surface) and every once loyal customer associated with it.  It just smacks off "we are so big that we can ignore a few complaints".  Makes me feel we are being treated as background noise, really undervalued and so, like many have stated on this forum, I have taken my business elsewhere.  We will never buy any surface product again. EVER.  Plus we are shifting to non Office products and enjoying the cost benefit of doing just that as the free stuff works very well, and much better than we expected so thanks for nothing MS.  You deserve to lose many more customers by your shoddy customer and product support, and long may that last, Karma IMHO.

First I got fuzzy, shaking screen, making it impossible to read or see clearly. I couldn't get anyone even at the store (when they were in biz) to answer as they didn't know.  They also wanted $99 for "tech support" per year to investigate. My online q got answered after a month.  The tech support online said it was a software issue and I needed to reformat, reinstall windows and one by one all the software installs.  But l looked up surface 3 (I have one), there was a class action suit on this same exact issue that extended the warranty, and offered a lower price for a reconditioned unit. Then soon after, the screen separated and bulged, and others said the battery's ****. Apparently it's swollen and could explode ilor caught on fire like the Sony laptops a few years ago bc as MS now say, all lithium batteries are unstable. No other Co or product I'm aware of has this issue tho or won't replace inmediately.

I'm tired of all this nonsense with fault avoidance with MS.

Instead of paying $700 for a replacement with no warramty extension so potentially battery issie, i switched to Mac pros, and it's a better machine with much better support and service. The pen and fingerprint id are gimmicks and never worked well anyway. I'm also waiting on a class action suit on surface 4 so not trashing it yet.

Well, you are beyond their ridiculous 3 year warranty for battery swelling. Welcome to the frustration club. Microsoft will offer you a refurbished model for somewhere between $500-700. At that point, I think you are better off using it as a coaster for drinks, but then again, it isn't flat, so that won't work. This is a huge problem that Microsoft isn't owning. The cause is battery swelling. There are no solutions at this time. Good luck. 

Thank you for your reply - it is nice to know I am not the only one frustrated by Microsoft's response.  My BIG customer support question is "how do you get a live person to talk with you?" if for nothing more than to complain!  And I love the "I can't help you if you talk to me like that."  If I can't talk to you like "that" get out of the "complaint department" or is "complaint" now politically incorrect?
