Surface 4 Pro screen bulging at lower left edge and separated from the frame

I have a Surface 4 Pro that I purchased in March 2016. Over the last few days, I was seeing a considerable color bleed on lower left edge of the screen. Then I stared noticing that that type cover does not seem to close flat against the screen. On closer inspection, I found that the screen is bulging (curving out) on the lower left side and the screen edge has separated from the frame, exposing a gap, Some of the circuitry inside seems to be pushing out as well from what I can see through the gap, indicating something inside is exerting an outward pressure. I pushed the screen back in and with a little pressure it got flattened. However, after a few minutes use, the screen bulged out again. There is no physical damage to the screen, the bezel or the device in general, no cracks or scratches.

What is causing this and what is a possible solution?

Thanks,

Deepak

    Hi All

I have given up on the pursued of this issue. As much as I hate to do this, Microsoft truly not owning up to this situation shows how little they care. As you all can see, so many with the same issue.

As for my laptop, already looking else where. a and looking to company that cares and provide better services for their long term customers.

I do suggest you all do the same. No point staying with someone that cares very little for their customers. I do feel everyone of us all have legit issue. Thank you all for all your suggestion.

I know my SP4 is out of warranty. I purchased this back in 2016, and like most folks here my Pro works just fine. The only issue is with the detachment of the screen, which makes me believe the SP4 should be considered a recall item, especially if this is a battery issue and can explode or combust. What number can I call to get a replacement or refurbished SP4?

I had my Surface Book exchanged out no charge by Microsoft and I am happy with their response.

Was your Surface Pro still under warranty? My Surface Pro 4 is out of warranty. The specialist at Microsoft was very polite, but the best he could offer me is a replacement for $450 plus taxes.

Bloated battery. After a few calls, and sending them photos of the bulge, they gave me a replacement unit.

It must be one of those things that may lead to exploding devices, which is why they replaced it so swiftly.

Prabhuz, you sure you weren't within the warranty period. They extended it to 3 years for battery bulge problems.

My warranty expired on 2017 itself and i havent taken any extended warranty. To be honest i didnt even know about the battery issue untill feb 2021 as my SP4 worked flawlessly.

i searched the internet to find similar problems and i landed on this page to even know about the replacement program.
