Surface 4 Pro screen bulging at lower left edge and separated from the frame

JUst called Microsoft, Apparently they extended the warranty to 3 yrs for this issue. 

My bad luck I am over by 2 months so the only solution they can offer is to throw the device. I was a bit aghast with this solution. So its a bit sad to throw a perfectly functioning device due to this manufacturing defect in the battery.

It's almost comical how identical our situations are. My SP4 had been getting overwhelmed easily these past 2 months, the fan running rampant, then the 3cm long orange blemish on the lower left quadrant. Then out of nowhere the blemish disappears but that same day I notice the bulge of the left lower quadrant and the screen detaching. I called the support number, the man told me my 3yr warranty expired July of this year, offered me $200 towards a new unit or pay $599 for a SP5. I didnt make a decision at the time. Today I drove to the MS store and the guy who attended me whispered under his breath to the other guy that it could be swapped if I still had warranty. The guy wasn't too talkative, kept to himself, didn't talk to me much nor ask questions. Then he told me he's going to the back to get the replacement. Yay! Walked out with a SP5 replacement free of charge. I am so grateful and I told the guy but again, he's so serious haha. Thank you MS! I truly appreciate it. 

MS company is happy to take money from some and refuse the refund they are offering others. 

Me thinks they are on the Kodak way to irrelevance.

It doesn't work. I bought a new battery so I could get the data out of this trash, but to no avail. apparently the previous battery made a short circuit, which sputtered the resistors. It's too complex for me to find fault ....

if you have this trash, change it urgently because I relied on "quality". Which does not exist.

I prepared a letter to send to schools to at least protect children in Austria from buying this bomb. I have all  pictures, since the beginning of the problem.

I have a Surface 4 Pro that I purchased in March 2016. Over the last few days, I was seeing a considerable color bleed on lower left edge of the screen. Then I stared noticing that that type cover does not seem to close flat against the screen. On closer inspection, I found that the screen is bulging (curving out) on the lower left side and the screen edge has separated from the frame, exposing a gap, Some of the circuitry inside seems to be pushing out as well from what I can see through the gap, indicating something inside is exerting an outward pressure. I pushed the screen back in and with a little pressure it got flattened. However, after a few minutes use, the screen bulged out again. There is no physical damage to the screen, the bezel or the device in general, no cracks or scratches.

What is causing this and what is a possible solution?

I have the same problem. After paying so much you would expect some quality. A friend of mine also had the same problem and it exploded on a flight to Dubai and caught fire in the cabin. This is a disaster waiting to happen and I am worried for my safety as I fly a lot too and can't afford to pay out another $2700 for another laptop.

I could add that (1) Microsoft could have made an offer to exchange the bloated but working model for a newer one. 

A few people in the US have gone to physical retail Microsoft Stores (where they
do NOT have refurb SP4's stocked) and gotten store managers to exchange for
refurb SP 2017's..
