Surface 4 Pro screen bulging at lower left edge and separated from the frame

For what it's worth I think the problem may be exacerbated by using an external monitor and keeping the type cover closed on the surface pro 4 screen. The heat build up is far greater, and there was an occasion recently where the surface pro shutdown and there was an image of a thermometer on a blank screen.

Anyway, I can only use mine with an external monitor now - the Surface Pro 4 screen is kaput with the same problem everyone else has been reporting here. I have bought another Surface Pro 4 second hand (opened box but unused), and will be sure to keep the screen getting plenty of airflow. 

I got the original in 2017, so 3 years of use. I just like them so much I had to get a replacement.

Problem with this is they want to charge me to replace my machine, when really in reality, the machine as it sits could explode and then they will have a bigger problem on their hand with a class-action lawsuit showing that their lithium batteries explode and catch fire.

Welcome to the suckers club. These pos devices are glued together and not meant to be serviced. None of the many other device I have that uses lithium batteries have this problem. I switched to macs, and they always go beyond the minimum service.  I had no questions asked instant replacement for iPhone 8, Mac pro, mouse, keyboard, and others, all were way out of and not covered by any insurance, warranty or otherwise. Not just me but everyone I know.  Ms is the worst.

Like many others here I had the flickering screen issue. I contacted MS support and the overseas rep promised me that they would send me a refurbished unit free of charge, even though it was out of warranty. I thought, wow, what great service! Two days later she got back to me and let me know that she made a mistake and that I'd need to pay for a replacement. It's the same story over and over in this thread. So like most here, I elected to keep it. Now, a few months later, I have the bulging screen problem. Good thing I have a pile of defective MS surface devices sitting here. Maybe I can build one complete unit out of all of them.  Guess how many of my macs are sitting in pile in my office? Zero. 

I'm one of those people who get asked all the time "What kind of computer should I buy?".  I used to be a big MS Surface evangelist. After my experience with this Surface 4, those days are over. If only you stood by your products MS. Might have turned out differently.
